To provide beginning shooters with the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to shoot an air Pistol safely under the direct supervision of an adult-

d) Start by participating in club-level competitions to gain experience.
e) Gradually move to district, state and national-level competitions.
f) Joining recognized tournaments helps you get noticed and opens doors for professional training and sponsorships.
What is an Air Rifle?
An air rifle is a type of gun that uses compressed air or gas to propel a pellet or BB, rather than traditional gunpowder. Air rifles come in various calibers,
with 177 and 22 being the most common for target shooting and small-game hunting.
Types of Air Rifles:-
1. Spring- Piston Air Rifles - Uses a coiled spring and air piston to generate power. It is reliable and widely used.
2. Gas Piston (Gas.am) Rifles - Uses a gas-filled cylinder instead of a spring for smoother shots.
3. Pre-Charged Pneumatic (PCP) Rifles Powered by compressed air stored in a tank, offering high accuracy and power.
4. CO2 Air Rifles - Uses CO2 cartridges for consistent shots, great for target shooting.
5. Multi-Pump Pneumatic - Rifles Requires manu: imping to build air pressure before each shot.

10m Air Rifle Shooting
10m Air Rifle is a precision shooting sport where competitors fire .177 caliber (4.5mm) pellets from an air rifle at a 10-meter distance to hit a designated target.
It is one of the most popular Olympic and competitive shooting disciplines, requiring extreme accuracy, stability and concentration.
Equipment used
1. Air Rifle
Caliber: 4.5mm (.177)
Type: Pneumatic, CO2, or pre-charged pneumatic (PCP)
Popular Brands: Anschütz, Walther, Feinwerkbau, Steyr, Pardini
2. Pellets
Type: Wadcutters (flat-head) for clean target holes
Weight: Typically 0.50g – 0.55g
Brands: RWS, H&N, JSB, Vogel
3. Shooting Suit & Gear
Shooting Jacket & Trousers: Made of stiff canvas or leather to provide support and stability
Glove: Worn on the non-trigger hand for a steady grip
Shooting Boots: Flat-soled for stability
Headband or Cap: Helps reduce distractions from light
4. Shooting Accessories
Sling: Helps support the rifle
Stand: Holds pellets and rifle between shots
Kneeling Roll: Used in 3-position shooting

Electronic Scoring System or Paper Targets: Standard 10m air rifle targets
Target Height & Distance: 10 meters from the firing line, center at 1.4m height
Range Specifications: ISSF regulations require a controlled environment with proper lighting and ventilation
Shooting Format
Distance: 10 meters (32.8 feet)
Position: Standing only
Target Size: Diameter of 45.5 mm, with a 0.5 mm center ring for a perfect 10.9 score
Number of Shots:
Qualification: 60 shots (men & women) in 75 minutes
Final: Top 8 shooters compete in an elimination round
Scoring System
Targets are divided into 10 rings, with the innermost ring scoring 10.9 points.
Decimal scoring is used in finals for higher precision.
The highest possible qualification score is 654.0 points.
